My name is Mehmet Serhat. I am a near-native English speaker with about 14 years of experience in teaching English as a foreign language, English for Specific Purposes, Business English, Academic Writing, IELTS, and TOEFL to students of all levels, from Beginner to Advanced, aged 4 to 60 in Russia, China, Turkey, and Thailand.
I hold a Master's degree in Business Administration. I have obtained a Pedagogical Formation certificate, which makes me a marketing teacher. However, I have been teaching English to speakers of other languages for the last 14 years in different positions, including managerial ones, at different levels, as I also have a TESOL Diploma.
I am also a certified Speaking Examiner for young learners and adults.
I strive for continued excellence.
I am a responsible, punctual, flexible and sociable person. Therefore, I expect my students to be responsible and punctual as well.
I am a good team player, and I like challenges.
I am eager to contribute my experience and strength and share my knowledge with my students, as long as my students are willing to do the same.
For me, teaching a language is not only about grammar and vocabulary; it is about helping learners open the door to a new world. I love witnessing the moment when a learner realises they can express themselves in a new language and truly connect with others. Teaching English and Turkish online allows me to share not only the language but also the culture behind it, making the process both practical and meaningful.
In my free time, I go to the gym. I am enthusiastic about working out. A healthy body makes people more productive. I do yoga. I read a lot and also write a lot. I am quite interested in different cultures and languages, as well as history and geography. I would never say no to a good movie, particularly one in which Audrey Hepburn is starring or one directed by Kim Ki Duk or Pedro Almodóvar.
