Teaching English requires a practical, interactive and friendly approach. The main goal is to help learners communicate confidently in everyday situations rather than simply memorize grammar rules. The following are some of the approaches i will be using to deliver my lessons:
1. Practical Conversations: This activity start with simple conversations learners can use daily, such as introducing themselves, greeting people, asking for directions and ordering food. For example, practise questions like, “What is your name?” and “Where do you live?”
2. Everyday Vocabulary: Here, useful words related to shopping, work, family, transportation and daily activities will be highlighted to encourage learners to use new words in simple sentences to improve their communication skills.
3. Role-Playing: Create realistic situations where learners practise speaking. For example, one person acts as a customer and another as a shop assistant. This helps them develop confidence in real-life conversations.
4. Pronunciation Exercises: this will help learners pronounce words correctly through listening, repetition and speaking activities. Pay attention to difficult English sounds, such as the “th” in “think” and “three.”
5. Simple Grammar Explanations: grammar will be introduced to learners gradually using familiar examples. For instance, explain the difference between “I work” and “I am working” through everyday activities.
6. Confidence and Participation: a welcoming or conducive environment will be created where learners will feel comfortable when make mistakes. Encourage everyone to participate, ask questions and practice regularly.
Ultimately, effective English teaching is about making learning enjoyable, practical and meaningful. Learners should gradually develop the confidence and ability to use English independently in their daily lives.
