Sandra Smit

With over 20 years of experience in English language education, including extensive Cambridge exam preparation and academic leadership, I am confident in my ability to support students in achieving strong results in these internationally recognised examinations.

I currently teach IELTS and Cambridge examination preparation at the University of Cape Town, where I focus on developing students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills using targeted strategies aligned with exam requirements. My teaching approach builds both language proficiency and exam confidence, enabling students to perform successfully under timed assessment conditions.

Previously, I served as Cambridge Exams Manager and Director of Studies at EF International Language Campus, where I oversaw Cambridge exam programmes, mentored teachers, and ensured academic quality across large student groups. I managed complex lesson scheduling, conducted academic performance evaluations, and supported teachers in delivering effective Cambridge-focused instruction. This leadership experience strengthened my organisational skills and deepened my understanding of Cambridge assessment standards, including FCE (B2 First) and CAE (C1 Advanced).

Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse student populations and learning needs, adapting lessons to ensure engagement and measurable progress. I am CELTA qualified and hold a BA in Law and English, providing a strong foundation in academic language and communication. I am also highly experienced in online and face-to-face teaching environments, and I am committed to maintaining high academic standards while fostering a supportive and motivating classroom environment.
